Johannes Gerber
Johannes started mountain bike racing in January 2005 and quickly progressed. In his first 9 months of riding he won the Intermediate Men class of the Mazda Drifter National XC series, came 10th in the 230km Trans Baviaans Marathon and got a very respectable 17th overall in the Karoo to Coast 100km in 3h27min.
Johannes was in excellent form when he crashed badly while training 3 weeks before the 2007 Trans Baviaans 230km Marathon and had to take a 3 month break due to injuries.
Johannes started training harder than ever in 2008 and is determined to reach his full potential as a mountain biker. He is particularly interested in ultra distance events and will attempt his 2nd 24hr Solo race in December. Johannes dreams of setting a new course record for the 2300km Freedom Challenge Trail one day and to become a top 24hr Solo competitor.
Race entry fees and lighting are partly covered by brighter-lights.com. His Pivot Mach 4 full suspension frame and Pace RC-39 fork is supplied by twowheelstrading.co.za.
24hr racing demands a lot financially in terms of the actual event and training for it and Johannes is still looking for more sponsors. Most urgently: Supplements + Nutrition, Travel Costs, Bike parts. 24hr events give excellent exposure to sponsors.
